Reb Levik's House

Reb Levik

There was a very well known pianist in Israel, named Vernita Schlansky. and in fact her brother Avraham was a very famous poet, the whole family was very musical, very artistic, very famous.

They grew up in a Yekaterinoslav (Dniepropetrovsk). which is the town where the Rebbe grew up. where his father, Reb Levik was the Rav and his mother, Rebbetzen Chana, was the Rebbetzen. and they had a very active home. all types of guests, basically the grand Central Station of Yidishkait in the town.

in 1977 in the Israeli newspaper in Hamariv, Vernita Schlansky wrote her recollections of growing up in the proximity of the Rebbe's parents.

she remembers being a little child, and her older brother taking her out of bed, and bringing her to where the adults were gathered. putting her at the piano and having her play two songs, which she would often hear Reb Levik and Chasidim sing.

she said: I played one sad song and one happy song.

The happy is the famous Reb Levik's Hakofos Niggun, that echoes back to the time of the Alter Rebbe.
